History

Gander's Taxidermy has evolved from a one man operation working out of a garage in a residential area in 1964, to the current thriving business at the present location since 1966.

Eric Gander a gifted woodcarver, sculptor and art school graduate from Switzerland emigrated to Canada along with his wife Lora in 1957. After trying his hand at many occupations, he discovered taxidermy. It was a profession that allowed him to express his art and put to good use his sculpting ability and knowledge of animal anatomy. In addition to the art work, as an avid outdoorsman and legendary story teller, it allowed him to be around some amazing characters always willing to share their experiences.

Sadly, Eric passed away in November 2005 and has been missed terribly by his family, friends and all that knew him. Rick and Robert have now taken over all aspects of the business and they will continue to "create and preserve memories for a lifetime" for the next generation of outdoorsman and women.

Lora has been there since day one and has been tireless not only hand sewing all of the rugs for 40 years but helping out in every other way to ensure the business would succeed.

Eric and Lora worked extremely hard side by side establishing a large and very loyal customer base. Quality and customer satisfaction was always they're number one goal and that continues today.

Son's Rick and Robert grew up learning and working in the business from a very young age and when they decided to make taxidermy their full time professions, the current shop was built in 1980. It was designed by Eric specifically for taxidermy with comfort, safety and security his main concerns.
